Sweet Outdoor Baby Shower

My friend Jenniffer, threw her sister-in-law, Norinne an adorable outdoor baby shower at her home in California.  Jenniffer is an amazing cook and as you will see her attention is always in the details.

Pennants

I'm happy to report we made it through hurricane Irene unscathed.  Besides not being able to sleep very well at all from the loud winds we were lucky not to have any major damage.  There are however enough power outages around here to cancel school for tomorrow.  (yippee for us my husband will get to stay home from work tomorrow)  So being couped up all weekend sometimes has its benefits.  I got a lot of cleaning and organizing done and today I even whipped out these little pennants for my son's room.  After making them for my son's play area in our Kitchen and seeing how easy they are I thought these would be a cute, fast addition to his window valance.  I know I tend to get obsessed with things sometimes (baby mobile anyone??) so I promise this is it for the pennants. 

I bought these number cutouts from the craft store and just glued them right onto the paper.

Originally  I wanted to incorporate these pennants into the room but ended up deciding against it since I was running out of room.  I think the homemade ones still go with the sports theme but in a little more playful way.

Beach inspired artwork

I found these yesterday while looking for some prints for my Master Bedroom re-do.  I'm absolutely in love with this first one.  If I ever get the time I want to create an inspiration board around this:

This Underwater Sea Coral Collection is the front runner for my Master Bedroom re-do.  I want to have it done in navy blue to coordinate with my graphic fabrics.

The Marine Life Nautical Series would be adorable in a Nursery.

The Good Nite Lite & some pretty fabric

Hard to believe it is already Thursday.  It's been a slightly sleep deprived week since my almost 3 year old has started to get up in the middle of the night and come into our room saying he is scared.  It all started with thunderstorms a few nights ago which then turned into him imagining thunder and all sorts of noises.  (or maybe that was just an excuse to get into our bed)  The poor kid was probably traumatized by that unexpected earthquake the other day which woke him up from his nap so needless to say we need to do something.  A friend told me about The Good Nite Lite so in total desperation I ordered one this morning.  This thing is supposed to help keep kids in their bed by showing them when it is time to sleep (moon) and when they can get up (sun).  I will try anything at this point.  Oh and he has been getting up at 5-5:30AM since he was born.  I can set the sun to go off at 6AM and the goal is to eventually get him to sleep in until then.  Have I waited too long to modify his sleeping habits?  I guess time will tell.  If anyone has used this before I would love to hear if you've had success.  Any other advice to help get my child to sleep in would be appreciated!!!

Jackson's Nature Inspired Nursery

Today I'm featuring this adorable Nursery designed by Erica of chalk + dot for her son, Jackson. 

The star of this room, Jackson.  (aka Cutie Pie)

The mixture of the sky blue walls, the green carpet, and the wood tones mixed with white give this room an authentic nature feel.  I love the rocking chair which was a steal on craigslist for $25!














Erica's baby shower invites were made of vintage Tahoe postcards.  She used the extras for this unique display hung up with clothespins.  I love this detail!


Last but not least, the mobile.  Her and her husband made a branch like design to hang little circles with silhouettes of animals on them.  All of the details in this room are spectacular.  To read more about Jackson's room check out chalk + dot.
